‘The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show’ is Side-Splitting Fun!

As an almost 34-year-old gay man, I’m sure my introduction to Jinkx Monsoon is the same as everyone else…Doctor Who. That’s right, as a gigantic nerdy first introduction to the incomparable Jinkx Monsoon was through the long-running British science fiction series instead of any of the other credits to her name. But in that one appearance in “The Devil’s Chord,” I was hooked and began following her career much more closely. Which eventually led me to her touring comedy show, The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show

I’ll be honest as well, I truly didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never attended a professional drag show before. I’ve also never watched anything more than clips of RuPaul’s Drag Race, so my prior knowledge was sparse at best. However, my main goal was to be in the same room as Jinkx Monsoon and soak up as much as possible. What everyone else and I packed into the Jack White Masonic Temple received was perhaps the ultimate Christmas present: joy. The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show celebrated the holiday season with unbridled queer joy, welcoming one and all to join in on the fun.

While the holiday season may be over, the necessity to shine a light on projects such as these never stops. So let’s gather together for one last sleigh ride.

[Warning: spoilers from the 2025 Jinkx and DeLa Holiday show are below!]

Holiday horror at its finest

After so many holiday tours together, Jinkx and DeLa (BenDeLaCreme) have different ideas of what they want from the show. DeLa still actively wants the big flashy musical numbers and over-the-top theatrics, and Jinkx just wants a break. However, before these two queens can reach a compromise about which type of show to present to the audience, fate has another twist up its sleeve in the shape of a Christmas tree.

Mr. Fir crashes the party as the mustache-twirling baddie looking to cause some mayhem for Jinkx and DeLa. No longer will this be a peaceful (or joyful for that matter) show, but instead one filled with bone-chilling stories of holidays gone wrong. Our heroines are unsure at first of what awaits their future, but within moments, they are thrust into four stories that would make any drag queen’s hair curl.

It’s here that The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show spoofs stories that many of us are familiar with. From a holiday rendition of Rosemary’s Baby, featuring Jinkx giving birth to the Anti-Christ, to a take on Gremlins featuring some downright adorable evils who have quite the evil side. The only way for Jinkx and DeLa to get out of the twisted horror-book world created by Mr. Fir is to move as quickly as possible through it. Can these two survive the holiday shenanigans that await them? Or will they crumble like the last Christmas cookie at the holiday party?

The Jink and DeLa Holiday Show is a mixture of comedy and activism

As Mary Poppins once told us, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, which is incredibly apparent in The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show. Using comedy as their mode of delivery, these two discussed important topics, such as dependence on artificial intelligence that is running rampant in our country, and the exploration of gender and sexuality. If you look anywhere on the internet, these are two highly debated topics (although gender and sexuality shouldn’t be, but I digress) and areas of tension.

I loved that, during a time when so many are neglecting to take a stance in Hollywood, Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme aren’t afraid to say their beliefs with their full chests. I know what some of you might be thinking, seeing that both Jinkx and DeLa are members of the LGBTQ+ community, their show would automatically be queer and come with inherent political activism. However, during the scary times we queer people are currently living through, that isn’t always true.

People once deemed safe, and even those in our community, have fallen silent, or, worse, have reversed their stance completely. However, when attending The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show, you’re surrounded by supportive and like-minded people who believe that you should get to be who you are and love whomever you want. It’s like realizing you’ve been holding your breath for so long, and finally you get a huge gulp of air. These two performers are fostering a safe environment for all while also standing up when it’s needed most.

But perhaps the biggest win is that, while they have firm stances and discuss them in their performances, The Jink and DeLa Holiday Show doesn’t hit you over the head with these messages. Perhaps part of that is through their comedy delivery of such themes, or because they just say it once firmly to let you know where they stand, and then move on.

The focus of this show was truly on finding a bit of (queer) joy amid the holiday season, which Monsoon and BenDeLeCreme nailed perfectly. You can’t help but feel lighter through laughter and celebration in an environment where you feel seen and validated. The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show is a pause in the day-to-day struggles of life, where fellow queer people and supporters can be reminded why the holiday season is so important. There’s nothing quite like being in the audience of a show such as this one, and it truly reminds you why it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Final thoughts on this Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme show

After years of touring this show, Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme continue to find new energy to share with audiences. There are tender moments that touch your heart, but even more comedic bits that make you cry from laughter. While this is my first year attending The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Show, it won’t be my last. These two comedians are at the top of their game and have cemented themselves as staples of my holiday season.

While the 2025 tour has come to an end, stay tuned for more updates about what Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme are cooking up! Did you check out this tour? What did you think about the show? Let us know @bsb.insider on social media!
