Flaus’ Electric Flosser Elevates Your Oral Health
I’ll be honest…I don’t love the dentist, and I never have. I remember being a young child who dreaded having to sit in that lounge chair while the techs insisted I open wider for the X-ray, which inevitably brought tears to my eyes. That isn’t to say I didn’t go, as my mother would never allow me to go without my routine cleaning; however, it became my life’s mission at a young age to keep my teeth as clean as possible so that I never had to have more serious issues for the dentist to deal with. A journey that began with finding the perfect toothbrush and eventually led me to the Flaus electric flosser.
Now, I know what some of you may be thinking, “Brian, why do you need an electric flosser when regular floss works just fine?” and I get it. Perhaps to some, the regular string of floss or even a standard plastic flosser is sufficient, but I’m ready to set up my oral hygiene game. I want to ensure that I can have the cleanest mouth possible without having to think too much about it. I want equipment that works with me and makes my life easier, which is exactly what this piece of equipment from Flaus has done.
Gone are the days when I’m lying in bed, stressing about not flossing as well as I could have. No longer do I need to fret that I might have missed something in my teeth because I was too tired to give it my all three times a day. Flaus has designed an integral piece of technology that will not only be something I use every day, but something I can’t imagine living without. Should Flaus’ electric flosser become an essential part of your life as well? Let’s explore why this flosser is a must-have!
[Note: while I am reviewing this item independently and honestly, it should be noted that I received a sample from Flaus for the purpose of this review.]
A design that looks familiar but feels spectacular
As you’re taking the Flaus electric flosser out of its box, there’s no denying that it looks like your standard electric toothbrush, although with one significant difference. To some, this might feel like a negative, but to me, the Flaus stands as a testament to the idea that if something isn’t broke, there’s no need to fix it. There are only so many ways to economically design something that needs to fit comfortably in your mouth while still performing its function.

To me, I want something that feels confident and I know will do a good job of keeping my smile clean, and that’s exactly what the Flaus offers. This electric flosser is minimal in its design, lightweight, and intentionally non-intimidating. It avoids the clinical look or feel of traditional over-the-counter dental tools and instead borrows from the visual language of premium electric toothbrushes and consumer tech. Which matters more than you can even imagine.
As a psychologist, I can say with confidence that behavioral design plays a big role in habit formation, and Flaus clearly understands that if something looks good on your bathroom counter, you’re more likely to use it regularly. As this sat next to my toothbrush, the sleek black design unintentionally matched, making it feel like a pair rather than two competing tools for my time. And personally, I can attest that from the design alone, I found myself picking up the Flaus more than I ever did traditional floss and actually looking forward to using it. Which is a win in my book, no matter which way you spin it.
The functionality of the Flaus electric flosser
Perhaps the biggest question I had when my business partner asked if I wanted to try the Flaus out was “Well…How exactly does it work?” In my head, the logistics didn’t seem to make sense, as how can this machine pull the floss between my teeth, ensuring that nothing is left behind? However, let me put your mind at ease, as Flaus truly does work, even if it seems like magic at first.
Flaus has created their flosser with ease of care in mind, as it uses gentle sonic vibrations combined with a replaceable floss head to guide floss between teeth. Similar to the vibrations you feel when using an electric toothbrush (though I would argue this flosser is less jarring than the former), Flaus can remove any stubborn food wedged in the tightest of tooth gaps.
As someone who loves popcorn more than anything, I no longer have to struggle with traditional floss or picks to remove every seed from my mouth, as Flaus automates part of the process. For beginners or people who’ve struggled with flossing consistency, this is arguably the product’s biggest strength. It lowers the barrier to entry and reduces the friction, both literal and psychological, associated with flossing.
What I love the most, as someone with highly sensitive teeth, is the strength with which the Flaus vibrates. I’ve tried a lot (and truly I mean A LOT) of electric toothbrushes to find ones that don’t make my teeth ache more than before I used them. So I was skeptical about using Flaus at first, in case it would irritate my teeth, making eating and drinking almost impossible. However, the vibrations are subtle rather than aggressive, making the device feel approachable for people with sensitive gums like me. You’ll walk away feeling like you have a clean mouth, not like you need to make an emergency appointment with your dentist.
Who’s Flaus for?
That being said, the effectiveness of this electric flosser depends heavily on users’ expectations. If you’re someone who already flosses daily with proper technique, Flaus may feel like a lateral move rather than a clear upgrade. Traditional floss still offers the most precision for cleaning around each tooth and below the gumline. Dental professionals often emphasize technique over tools, and Flaus doesn’t eliminate the need to be mindful about how you’re flossing.

Where it shines is that it just makes the process of flossing easier to start and sustain. With Flaus, you’re building a habit, which can be such a difficult process at first. The device turns flossing into something closer to brushing your teeth, promoting a new daily process that is quick, consistent, and integrated into an existing routine you already have. That’s where the dynamic shift in your life truly forms. For people who floss sporadically (or not at all), the difference between “perfect technique once a week” and “good-enough technique every day” is meaningful. In that sense, Flaus isn’t trying to beat traditional floss on technical superiority; it’s trying to win on consistency.
Another thing consumers have to consider is the replaceable floss heads, which are integral to making Flaus work. Each head is designed for multiple uses before you need to discard it, which is more sustainable than single-use floss picks. I’ve personally fallen into the single-use floss packs because they are effective, but ultimately bad for the environment. Flaus has considered the sustainability impact, which is a plus, but their replaceable floss heads still incur ongoing costs. Flaus has created something uniquely theirs, which means a subscription is required for continuous use. While some users will definitely appreciate the convenience this product offers, others may find it less economical compared to traditional floss.
And as so many of us know in today’s society, cost is everything. So cost-wise, is this flosser worth your hard-earned cash? Flaus is undeniably more expensive upfront than traditional floss, with a price tag of $119 USD, and the ongoing cost of replacement heads adds up over time. For some, that’s a justifiable purchase, because of the improvement to both your oral hygiene and the ease with which it fits into your routine. For others, it may feel like an unnecessary premium on something that can be done effectively with a few dollars’ worth of string. My mom always told me that if something makes your life easier, then it’s worth the cost, and Flaus has definitely done that in spades.
So ultimately, who is Flaus for? I think for those of us, much like myself, who have struggled to find perfection in our daily routines, Flaus fits in perfectly. If you’ve ever crawled into bed, dwelling on the fact that you forgot to floss your teeth once again, this is for you. While it is a bit pricy to begin with, the pros definitely outweigh the cons, as Flaus helps you to build consistency, and right now that’s what I need from technology in my life.
