Exclusive Interview: Supervising Sound Editor Christopher Gomez of ‘Beef’
If you thought Beef was just about two people having a really, really bad day, Season 2 is here to remind you that things can always get messier. Much messier. The Emmy-winning series returns with a fresh feud, a new batch of deeply questionable decisions, and enough pent-up resentment to power an entire freeway interchange.
In this exclusive BSB Insider interview, Emmy-nominated Christopher Gomez discusses what he hoped to achieve sonically in season 2 of Beef. While it is connected in theme, Beef season two is vastly different from the first outing, with a story that needed its own identity. So where do you begin with a story such as this one? Gomez talks about the collaborative approach that the season began with, and how the use of sound, or should we say silence, plays such an important role in delivering the message at hand. You can feel the love and care that Gomez put into his project throughout this interview, which makes the Emmy nomination even sweeter for the sound editor!
