Some musicals tug at your heartstrings. Others get your toes tapping. And then there’s Kinky Boots, a show that manages to do both, preferably in a pair of fabulous, sky-high boots. With a killer score by Cyndi Lauper, plenty of laughs, and a story about friendship, family, and learning to step outside your comfort zone, this musical proves that sometimes the best way to find your footing is to walk a little taller. Kinky Boots is colorful, energetic, and overflowing with personality, and once it gets moving, it’s nearly impossible not to kick up your heels along with it. There’s so much to appreciate about this show, and some stuff that perhaps felt outdated, so naturally we have to break it all down!
